Hoarders Support Group in San Diego

Hoarders Support San Diego (HSSD)

This is a free, in-person support group only open to people who hoard. We are committed to conquering our hoarding to the greatest extent possible and reclaiming our lives.

We talk with each other; get and give moral support; express our frustrations and problems; offer help and solutions; share information on hoarding, doctors, medication and therapy; sometimes watch short, related films during the meeting; and discuss resources (organizations, books, articles) . . . and we have a lot of fun along the way.

As of July, 2008, we are starting the book Buried In Treasures: Help for Compulsive Acquiring, Saving and Hoarding, by David F. Tolin, Randy O. Frost, and Gail Steketee. We will read the book together and discuss it as we go along, and work through any exercises and share our responses. The book is available on-line at amazon.com. Some local bookstores such as Barnes and Noble carry the book but please call first to make sure the book is in stock.

We just finished reading, as a group, the short book Overcoming Compulsive Hoarding, by Fugen Neziroglu, et al. We’ve done the exercises as we’ve gone through the book and we encourage new members to read the book and work through the exercises, if possible, to catch up with us. This book is also available through amazon.com, and some local bookstores.

If you are a hoarder with an interest in improving the quality of your life or if you know someone who is, you can contact HSSD by sending an e-mail to spyyyyyke@igc.org or calling (619) 665-6330. Inquiries and participation is confidential.

We welcome all hoarders!

Meetings: The first and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Mission Bay area. Feel free to bring something to eat and drink – we know it’s dinner time!
