About Lori
Lori Riddle-Walker is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) [See What is an MFT?] practicing in North San Diego County. She specializes in treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and OCD spectrum disorders in adults, adolescents and children, and also has extensive experience in the area of parenting and children’s behavioral problems.
Her background is wide-ranging, in addition to her experience with OCD and OCD spectrum disorders, it includes providing mental health support to regular education and special education students and their families within the school environment, the homeless, substance abusers, parolees, veterans, the severely mentally ill, and other diverse populations.
Through her work with individuals, couples and families, Lori has gained experience with adoption issues, childhood behavioral problems, child abuse, parenting issues, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and dual diagnosis issues.
Lori has provided mental health support in public and residential schools and is familiar with special education programs and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). She is experienced in classroom behavioral support and is trained in de-escalation and restraint. She has also managed treatment in residential settings. Lori has worked with Children’s Services and the court system to provide services for children in protective custody. She is experienced in case management and team wraparound services that connect families to community resources and support them in reaching their goals.
Her group facilitation experience, for both adults and children, includes recovery issues, women’s issues, children’s behavioral issues, anger management, social skills, hoarding and support for OCD and spectrum issues.
Lori is married with children and grandchildren and has experience as a foster and adoptive parent.
Her hobbies have included racquetball, art-metal restoration, cycling, hiking, and making hand-built pottery. (She created the tile pieces used in this site’s header.)
Lori received her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Trinity College of Graduate Studies, Anaheim, California. She also has a bachelor’s degree in theology. She is currently enolled at Argosy University in San Diego in the program “Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology.”
